HQC contributes research expertise to national asthma care initiative

The Health Quality Council is participating in a national research project that could ultimately improve lung function in adulthood for children who have asthma. Jacqueline Quail, a Senior Researcher at HQC, and researchers in Quebec, Manitoba, and B.C. are analyzing provincial data from the last 25 years to assess two aspects of asthma care: The effect on lung health over time in asthmatic children of mothers who had poorly controlled asthma during pregnancy; and, how good management of asthma in preschoolers may affect their lung health as young adults.

This is one of several projects coordinated by the Canadian Respiratory Research Network to improve understanding and treatment of asthma and COPD. More information.
