Fernando Maldonado

Researcher

Fernando joined the Health Quality Council in August 2021. As an Researcher, he works with SAS writing programs to manipulate, merge, and analyze large administrative databases for various research projects. He is also actively involved in the development and maintenance of SAS macros.

Before joining HQC, Fernando worked at the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) in the Research department. Prior to this, he worked at ICES in Toronto in their Data Quality and Information Management Department. Before moving to Canada, Fernando worked as an Emergency Room physician and Urology resident in his home countries, Colombia and Ecuador.

Fernando holds a M.D. degree from the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador, as well as a Master of Public Health (MPH) and a Master of Science in Community Health and Epidemiology (MSc) from the University of Saskatchewan. Fernando is currently completing his thesis towards a Master of Science (MSc) in Community Health and Epidemiology. He also holds certifications as a SAS Certified Base Programmer, Statistical Business Analyst, and Advanced Programmer.
