Choosing Wisely Canada’s 2019 national meeting great opportunity for SK health professionals to share with, learn from colleagues across country

Choosing Wisely Canada’s (CWC) 4th Annual National Meeting will take place on May 27th, 2019 at Montreal’s Centre Mont-Royal and is the perfect event to get up to speed on what health care professionals across the country are doing to reduce unnecessary care.

The Choosing Wisely Saskatchewan team is excited about the national meeting as it is an excellent opportunity for clinicians, patients, and system leaders from across Canada to come together to discuss, engage, and network on topics related to this year’s theme, reducing unnecessary tests and treatments.

“The CWC national meeting is a unique opportunity to collaborate with health care professionals and learn about high-impact initiatives and projects being implemented to reduce unnecessary care. Attending this important national meeting has inspired me to develop innovative and effective strategies to reduce unnecessary antimicrobial prescribing practices in Saskatchewan.” (Dr. Shaqil Peermohamed, Infectious Diseases Specialist, Saskatchewan Health Authority)

“Attending the CWC national meeting was an enlightening opportunity to network with like-minded colleagues across the country and learn about successful initiatives that could be implemented in Saskatchewan.” (Dr. Kevin Wasko, Physician Executive, Integrated Rural Health, Saskatchewan Health Authority)

This national event also offers the opportunity for Saskatchewan clinicians, students, leaders, and administrators to share their work with colleagues from across the country. A Call for Abstracts is now open until January 31st, 2019. CWC encourages abstracts on themes related to quality improvement, measurement and evaluation, deprescribing, patient engagement, and medical education.

Choosing Wisely Saskatchewan (CWSK) is led by Saskatchewan’s Health Quality Council, which coordinates provincial efforts through collaboration with the provincial Appropriateness of Care Program, Saskatchewan Medical Association, University of Saskatchewan’s College of Medicine, patient and family advisors, and other health system partners.
