This short video is part of ongoing communication and education strategy to support Saskatchewan health regions with their implementation of interdisciplinary rounding (IDR). The primary audience is point of care staff – including physicians – across the province. This resource supplements the information in the IDR module in the Patient Flow Toolkit.
The video is intended to:
- Position IDR within the broader provincial work of improving patient care and patient flow;
- Explain how this form of rounding is different from the more commonly used multidisciplinary rounding;
- Spell out the benefits of IDR, for patients/families, and for communication on care teams; and,
- Provide an overview of how to meet best practices of interdisciplinary rounding.
