Antibiotic Use, Appropriateness and the Adoption of Virtual Care

While the COVID-19 pandemic will once again create challenges for this year’s cold and flu season, primary care providers have quickly adapted to a combination of virtual and in-person care, along with changes in practice in the management of respiratory tract infections.

On October 6 at 12 p.m. ET, Choosing Wisely Talks will reflect on what we’ve learned about antibiotics and over-prescribing, a long-standing issue of global significance. How has antibiotic prescribing changed with the management of COVID-19 and shift to virtual care? And what challenges do we need to consider this upcoming respiratory season?

Panelists:

  • Dr. Jerome Leis, Infectious Disease Physician at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, and Physician Lead, Using Antibiotics Wisely
  • Dr. Janet Reynolds, Family Physician and Primary Care Co-Lead, Choosing Wisely Canada
  • Dr. Sacha Bhatia, Population Health and Values Based Health Systems Executive, Ontario Health
