CQIP Cohort 4 graduates to present learnings at virtual capstone event on Jan. 29

The graduating class of the fourth Clinical Quality Improvement Program (CQIP) cohort will be showcasing their learnings during a virtual capstone event taking place on Jan. 29 from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Open to the public, this will be the cumulating event for the 20 clinicians taking part in this 10-month program. Each participant will have the opportunity to do a three-minute presentation – called a QIck Talk – on the aim and results of their quality improvement projects, as well as their learnings in the program and their professional development.

  • The Cohort 4 capstone event will be taking place on Jan. 29 at 8-10:30 a.m.

CQIP is an applied learning program designed to build leadership in quality improvement work in clinicians. It enables participants to incorporate continuous quality improvement initiatives into their practice. The program delivery is coordinated by the Saskatchewan Health Quality Council (HQC) and is offered through a partnership with the Saskatchewan Health Authority, the Saskatchewan Medical Association and the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health.

Participants in Cohort 4 started the program September 2019 prior to the global COVID-19 pandemic. The capstone event was delayed to January to allow participants to focus on COVID response.

HQC Director of Learning and Development Shari Furniss explained the capstone event will be a great opportunity to showcase some of the important quality improvement work that is happening across the province.

“Our hope is to continue building a foundation for a culture of continuous improvement within Saskatchewan’s health care system. CQIP participants graduate the program as improvement leaders. I always find CQIP’s capstone events to be inspiring and heating about the graduates’ continuous improvement journey is amazing. Their enthusiasm for quality improvement means many of them stay with the program to help mentor the next cohort of participants,” Furniss said. “With the event being held virtually and open to the public, we’re hoping to highlight some of the great work being done in Saskatchewan to a broader audience. This capstone is a great way to recognize and celebrate the participants’ accomplishments and hard work, which seems especially important during this challenging time.”
